I’ll be speaking at the Shanghai Literary Festival on Saturday March 18th at 2 pm. I’ll be talking about Game of Thrones and the medieval world in which it’s set.

Next up, the very first Wimpole History Festival, a new venture between the Cambridge Literary Festival and the National Trust. This will be over the weekend of July 7th – 8th, 2017. So new it doesn’t seem to have a website yet!

Following that, there’s the Faclan Festival in Stornoway in late October. Hugely looking forward to my first visit to the Hebrides.

Academic Talks

I’m at the London Medieval Society’s Study Day on February 25th. (booking form here). I’ll be talking about emotion in medieval English secular literature.

I’m also talking at Island Dynamics: Folk Belief and the Supernatural in Literature and Film’ in Svalbard in the high Arctic, January 23rd. Very excited to be heading to 78 degrees north to talk about the White Walkers in Game of Thrones and their relation to Arctic horror!
